Rita Simões is a Portuguese portrait artist, children’s book illustrator, and character designer.
With over 16 years of experience, she has completed numerous portrait commissions. Additionally, she has illustrated children’s books for various publishers. Her extensive graphic diary collection includes more than 126 volumes, documenting her artistic journey from 2009 to the present.
She pursued specialized training at esteemed institutions, including the Royal Drawing School in London for drawing, NABA in Milan for fashion design, and Schoolism for visual development and expressive character design tailored to the animation industry. Rita graduated in Global Design and holds a master's degree in Audiovisual and Multimedia Communication, both from IADE University in Lisbon. Her master’s dissertation, titled “Process of Character Design: An Analysis of Elderly Characters,” reflects her deep passion for the field.
Passionate about drawing, Rita is a natural observer of life and details. She's keen on visiting palaces, such as Palácio da Ajuda, immersing herself in libraries, and exploring the wonders of nature, especially in Sintra and Gerês.
